Billing Policy

Domestic Students:
Routine Appointments :

  • All students with a valid Medicare Card will be bulk billed.
  • Please bring your Medicare Card and Health concession card if you have one

International Students:
Routine Appointments:

  • Direct billing with no out of pocket costs available for students with BUPA, Medibank private, NIB, and Alliance Overseas student health cover. You must bring your OSHC card and valid ID to all consultations.
  • If you are insured by another health fund, you will need to pay at the time of consultation according to the Medicare rebate for the service received. You can then seek reimbursement of this fee from your insurer.
  • Children of overseas students are billed in the same way as their student parent.
  • Other family members of overseas students are generally directly billed if there is a financial disadvantage, but it is up to the discretion of individual doctors.

Staff, Alumni & Local Residents:

  • All children under 16 years, pensioners and concession card holders are bulk billed. Please bring your pensioner or concession cards to assist with correct Medicare billing.
  • Bulk billing is available for all other patients but up to the discretion of individual doctors.
  • Dr. Bulcraig bulk bills all patients. Dr. Leslie bulk bills all patients during session recesses.
  • Drs Bowler, Lade, and Ujvary charge non-students a private fee with a $30 gap.
  • Patients with BUPA OVC are directly billed to BUPA without a gap fee.

Followup appointments for eg results are usually bulk billed by all doctors.

Some vaccines are funded by Medicare eg childhood vaccines, ones for pregnant women, Aboriginal patients and people over 65 years of age
Others, in particular, travel vaccines, are not and charges apply. Please ask our reception staff about our current vaccine charges as these change regularly dependent on supply.

Dressings, Procedures, and Point of care testing

  • Costs for these are not covered by a Medicare rebate or private insurance.
  • Complex or large dressings, procedures such as Implanon insertion or removal, skin excisions and point of care testing eg INRs will incur a facility fee, typically between $10-20. Please ask your doctor about these in advance.
  • IUCD/Mirena insertions with Dr. Ujvary also incur out of pocket fees of approximately $105 in order to cover the costs involved.

If you cannot attend your appointment, you must cancel at least three hours before your appointment time, so we can allocate your time to someone else. Otherwise a cancellation fee of $40 will apply for all non-attendance or non-cancelled appointments.


Campus Clinic is a privately owned and managed medical service that operates separately from the University of Wollongong.

While we often work closely with student support services, all activities of the clinic remain private and confidential. Your information is not shared with the university unless specifically requested by you.
